I want a PSU that will be able to handle 2x 7900gtx Sli, 12 hard drives, 1 optical, and the usual (probably go conroe sometime, but a64 4000+ atm at stock), with a bit to spare. Will this 900w tagan be sufficient?

Tagan TG900-U95 900W ATX2.01 Turbojet Quad SLi Silent PSU (CA-011-TG)

How much power do the 7900gtx's need in sli?

Thanks :)

12 Hard drives?

I would seriously look at dual PSU's for that as the peak load when they all spin up at system boot will be devastating. There is a reason that SCSI controllers have staggered spin up as they are designed for this sort of number of hard drives.

the cards dont draw a great deal about 450w max under load... but that many hard drives might be an issue, upgrading to a conroe would probably draw less power aswell as they run cooler etc...

Thanks for the replies :D

I dont have 12 hard drives atm... theres only 5 SATA drives in there (although i have about 4 other IDE drives that i need a controller for that arent in the machine). But i have a CM stacker and plan to fill it in time. Just wanted a PSU that was future proof. I also have a 500w PSU from pc world in there, heh. I suppose i can use that to run the drives, and maybe buy a smaller PSU... i just fancied one bad boy instead :)

oh by the way... thanks for that PSU calculator... it says 609w with all that stuff (11 hard drives, and 7900gtx in sli).

I'd go for a 600w Seasonic or similar for the main system then use the 500w PSU you have for the drives. That way your not loading one or the other too much on the 12v rail. Even a 900w might struggle to provide enough on the 12v rails for that cpu/graphics and the drives.

Ok thanks guys, keeping my current 500w psu and getting something around 600w is gonna save me a load of money too, which is always a bonus. :)
