Quick x570 Power Question

I’ve noticed on the Gigabyte x570 board it has a 8 pin power and next to it a 4 pin power supply for, what I believe, the CPU power.

The manual doesn’t really explain if both are required whether I use one or the other. I have a 1000w PSU and the cables to put in both so should I? Will it hurt? Should I only be using one of them?

Thanks,

M.

Normally it's for overclocking but I've always used them when available, it won't hurt, it'll just draw what it needs :)

Thanks - I'll chuck them both in - the cables come with 2 x 4 pin connectors so I had one over and it didn't look quite right. Just need a CPU now and I should be good to go (fingers crossed for tomorrow!)

Thanks again!

Yeah I got that bit right - the manual is really quite poor when it comes to explaining that bit - it doesn't say optional but it doesn't say required - quite ambiguous! No matter I'll chuck it in.

Thanks,

M.

The current range of CPU's will barely max out a 4 pin connector, just the 8 pin is more than enough for even an overclocked 3900x. The optional 4 pin may help with stability if pushing a 3900x to the max under LN.
But if the connection is available it won't hurt to use it, even if it's never needed ;-)
