Is there currently any way of getting save games and profiles off a 360 hard drive, other than buying a 360 memory card?

I want to backup my saves but don't want to have to shell out for a memory card unless I have no choice.

I don't think you can do that - why do you want to do so?

-edit-

Codejunkies will soon offer a little shim that slips between the 360 hard drive and 360. This shim lets users back up their data from their hard drive to a PC to save their content. For $40 this isn't too bad of a deal, I am suspicious that my Oblivion saves are really hording space on my HDD.

XSata is a better way of doing it. You can backup absolutely anything and everything stored on your hard drive including making a perfect image of it.
The XSata does the above exactly and has been around for ages.

I'm selling the 360 and want to keep my saves for possible future use.

I'd rather not buy a mem card but it looks like I'll have to :/

XSATA is more expensive and since it's only going to be used once it's not worth me buying it, though it would be the best thing to use. A memory card should suffice but I begrudge paying £20 for one.
