Quickest way to transfer steam games to new pc?

Or if you plan to use the same HDD, leaving a small partition with just your games and then transfering after you have installed Windows in a larger partition on the same drive should be quicker than what you are doing now.

^ Those are you best bets, transferring HDD to HDD over SATA you will get rates of 140 Mb's per second.

I take it your trying to back up all your steam folder to USB2 external hard drive? For future reference you really ought to invest in ESATA. Over ESATA you can transfer 5Gb every minute so that would take about half an hour to back up your whole steam folder. Why ESATA? ESATA is a lot faster for copying over lots of smaller files then USB3.

As some have said just rip out the old hard drive plug it in to your new PC and copy the files over its what I do for any large amount of data I need to do :) and very easy to do as well all you need are the leads them selfs and the harddrive.
