Quickfire rapid for £89 or Poker 3 for £100?

I'll be gaming but just need a nicely built backlit keyboard, no macros, etc.

I have the quickfire tk (brown). It is nicely built overall. Better than my previous Qpad mk-85 (an X Armor rebrand). It feels sturdy for sure.

However, there is, IMO, a major flaw, that would be a deal breaker for me. Especially if I intended to use the keyboard as say, a sofa accessory, or you had the intention to move it about and not leave it relatively alone on a desk.

The USB cable is removable (what for, I don't even really know, ease of transport? Ease of manufacture? Cheap shortcut under the pretence of 'removable'?). But there is nothing bracing and locking the cable to the keyboard. It's just held by the USB port in place. There are some channels to route the cable underneath, and that provide some friction, but not much, and will probably get worse over time.

It's like on some controllers, and I always found that method rather insecure, and lame. Having a removable USB cable just attached to the device for recharging or whatever, OK, but not for actual use.

I don't know why they thought it would be a good idea. A keyboard isn't a controller. Especially the quickfire, it's rather heavy. I would have preferred a stong cable attachment (like on the Qpad, it's REALLY secure, and the cable is massive),, or other ways to secure and brace the USB port.

So there. If you are used to play with devices dangling off a standard USB port, or plan to leave the keyboard on a desk then OK. Otherwise, i'd look somewhere else.

And it's a shame, i' give mine an A, if it wasn't for the lame cable. It's well built, looks good, quite heavy and chunky.

Not familiar with the Poker. I've heard good things about them, and they are the standard go-to TKL. For 100 quids? Sound all-right to me. The layout is weird though. I don't think I'd get used to no arrows and others.

Edit : The pok3r also have a removable cable. Yuck... I just have no real confidence in mine holding up and not get damaged. Maybe you're OK with that. In that case, I have no issues with the CM TKL stuff. It's probably more secure with the routing channels, but meh...
