Hello,

I finally got around to ordering my new rig. I also just built it (first attempt at a complete build). Everything seemed to be going ok. But I have one problem.

RAM.

I have a Gigabyte-EX38-DS4 with a Artic Freezer 7 Pro. Now the fan of this cooler sits almost bang on top of RAM slot 1. Now heres the catch. I have Corsair XMS2 (the one with DHX heatspreader prong thingys). I can just about fit this into slot one. Trouble is its touching the fan housing of the AF7.

Now I'm guessing this isn't a good thing. I havent yet turned the machine on for fear of frying something. I don't know how hot RAM modules get but can I assume its definite no-no to have it touch plastic?

Here's my plan B. But i need to know if this is possible or if its a bad idea or if theres a performance difference etc.

Can I simply plug my RAM into slots 2 and 4 instead of 1 and 3?

Anyhelp and definitive confirmations would be greatly appreciated. It sucks have a brand new machine i cant use!

ram can go in 2 and 4 and use dual channel there instead but dont use slots 3 and 4 otherwise your losing some free performance. and everything should work fine.
