Quickie! Faster or more?

I have recently bought a MB "bundle" it came with CPU and RAM. I was going to Ebay the RAM. But, what would be best, 16GB Dual-Channel matched RAM, in two of the slots, or 24GB consisting of two different pairs using all four slots? (The 16GB being 1866, the 8GB being 1600?) MB is ASUSTeK M5A97 R2.0...

IMO 24GB is overkill unless you're dealing with HUGE multi-GB files.
