I am not too familiar with intel cpu but that i7 5820k is a better cpu and faster if overclocked and has better overclock potential because it has unlocked multiplier. i5 7400 is not possible to overclock to it seriously impacts its gaming performance. But at stock i would assume depending games which use 6 cores the i7 5820k is faster and those that only use 4 cores the i5 should be a little faster.

I would look for the i5 8600k cpu or i7 8700k if you are looking for intel but I would say get a AMD 2600x and a good B450 motherboard and 16GB ram for the price of a 8700k almost and has much better value.

AMD - A Mining Device

He's making the point that the choice was between 2 Intel chips, so why the need to bring AMD into it.

At least, I think that's what he meant.

Yeah i think he was referring to the part where i recommended a Ryzen. I though OP was deciding to build a system with i5 7400, hence why i recommended he buy a ryzen cpu. Actually looking back now that might not of been best advice, give that he might already own the 5820K which its not worth upgrading to a ryzen 2600 anyway. Best to keep what he has but if does not own it then a 2600x is sure better than a i5 7400.

There was nothing anti intel or misguiding in my reply, well I hope nobody took that viewpoint as there was non on my behalf not intentionally anyway, just some basic assumption on OP behalf as his question was very black or white. I also disagree that this is not a Intel Thread, if he mentioned so directly then ok but OP did not so cant really blame me.

5820k it is
Ive got two cards the 980ti or the 1070 im gonna sell one ,any ideas which i should keep

Their performance is roughly the same, 1070 is more power efficient. Second hand 1070 will get your £200-£230 depending on model and 980ti will get your £180-200 and i am talking about forum prices not ebay. Its up to you

I would personally keep the 1070 for the efficiency and possible warranty.
