Had a thought when driving home. Basically when trading in a car as part ex for another do you get more money if it's the same manufacturer? So my audi a3 when I trade it in eventually for a bigger model of audi would I get more for the part ex, if I do it at an Audi garage?

Stupid question probably, just had it when driving home!

In some cases yes, but it depends on the dealer (independant or main), the specifics of you car you intend to trader, the car you want to trade it in for and how desperate the dealer is to sell.

In the past I have been offered more money from other dealers than the same brand dealer of my car at the time.

If your trade in is something the dealer can retail themselves, and wouldn't need very much preparation they may feel able to give you a bit more for it.

If it's something they're going to move on to a trader or through the auctions, probably not.

I don't know if the car market is the same, but when I used to sell tractors we got bonuses from the manufacturer if we were getting a customer to swap from another make.
