Was a bit more difficult than I thought to get it mounted using standard rear-sets but I got there in the end! :) .

Drilled and tapped a hole in the gear lever (drill bits and tap provided with the kit)... why the hole all along it Aprilia? Was a pain in the arse and the reason I had to mount it so far forward... and drilled and tapped 2 holes in my crash bung and used the supplied "L" bracket to mount the other end. Had to file away a very small amount of material on the frame (really small) for clearance for the head of the screw but apart from that was all ok!

Had a hair-pulling-out moment when the bike wouldn't start but then realised I had the quickshifter adjusted so far out that it was cutting the spark even when sat doing nothing! :o. Took a couple of rides with a spanner in my pocket and a bit of adjusting to get it exactly right but it's all sorted :D.

WOW, it's fun!!!

Have set it to 4500rpm minimum and 70ms cut time for now but might play with it a bit lower than that (say 60ms).

Out of curiousity, how do these work?

Are they purely mechanical devices, or do they hook into the ECU somehow to cut the fuel? Does it make a difference between electric throttle vs cable throttle?

Mine plugs into my power commander (3 USB) which is used to remap the fuelling without altering the ECU. You can get stand-alone units though. Throttle type makes no difference, it's all about the fuelling.

Shouldn't make any difference since the whole point is the throttle stays wide open during changes.

They can be into the loom or they are a connection in between the injectors, they either cut the fueling or cut the plugs for a fraction of a second allowing clutchless up shifts while still holding the throttle wide open
The only real mechanical part is the push sensor when you go to change gear.

I just love the distinct noise made when someones using a quickshifter :D will be getting one on my next bike.

I fitted one to my R1 a few weeks ago too. Nice bit of kit, I dunno how much they normally go for but I snapped up mine from eBay for £60! fitted straight into the PCIIIUSB.

I've got it set to activate at 7,000RPM with a 70ms delay. Haven't had a chance to really test it, you cant go full throttle until atleast 3rd gear but by that time it's prison time, so I'll have to save the real test for the track. It's super smooth when changing gear though.
