It's been a while since Quicksilver stopped being developed and I assume Spotlight has been experiencing improvements by Apple's developers.

Has anyone gone back to Spotlight? I only really use Quicksilver for quickly accessing apps/folders and since upgrading to Lion, Quicksilver seems to have stopped working. There probably is an easy fix but it made me question if I should even be using it any more.

I use quicksilver, but I have found that when using my wife's MacBook Pro I get on fine with Spotlight.

Will try Alfred later tonight I think!

I used to use Quicksilver and then I moved to Alfred but there's not a lot in it to be honest.

I think the main difference is that Quicksilver has its own index so you can turn Spotlight off completely.

Alfred uses the Spotlight index so really it's just a nicer GUI for Spotlight but I think it's also nicer than Quicksilver and it's still in development so there will be updates.

I haven't felt the need to buy the 'pro' version...

Alfred is fantastic once you realise its potential and set it up for your own workflow. I use it for app launching. Terminal/Shell commands. Enable/Disable Airport. URL Shortening. Tons of custom web searches - stocks, movies, games, videos, currency conversions, quick launch MAS or iTunes Store with a custom app search. Calculator etc etc.

I find new uses all the time. Its probably increased my productivity more than any other piece of software on my Mac's

Quicksilver is being developed and ß60 works well in Lion. Check http://QSApp.com

Make sure The latest Menu Interface is in use: http://QSApp.com/plugins/index.php and untick 'hide' under login items in Accounts System Preferences (if QS is set to start on login).
