Quicktime events should be optional.

I've been playing Max Payne 3 and Far Cry 3 and enjoyed both well enough, however the one thing that put a dampener on my enjoyment was the ridiculous qte's while on a game pad they are annoying on kbm they are totally immersion breaking. Why isn't there an option to turn off qte's as in The Witcher 2 especially for PC versions?

Does anybody actually like qte's? I long for the days when finishing a boss fight meant I could sit back and relax my work done to the reward of a well choreographed finish ala Dante or Geralt.

Depends on the game, I don't mind QTE's but I hate it when they make you tap a button repeatedly (**** you Batman and Kingdoms of Amalur for example)

Batman especially, instead of hammering A to open a vent....why not just let me press it once?

I never completed GTA4 because the a QTE on the final mission could not be done on the PC version (it was bugged).

Cheap ones really do my head in, on the harder difficulty the Witcher 2 has some really hard ones that just come from nowhere and stay on the screen for no time at all!

Yep but it also had a simplified quicktime option which removed them entirely iirc. I turned them off on the kayran and didn't deal with a qte for the rest of the game. I've not got it installed anymore so can't check.

I hate QTEs. I would rather watch the cut-scene than take part in it. They are what are making me a bit wary of the upcoming Colonial Marines as I read it will include them.

Nothing can be as bad as NFS:The Run, it puts up XB360 controls even if you are playing with keyboard, so you have to use trial and error to work out the 'translations' and then try to remember them!
....and seriously, WTF are QTEs doing in a racing game anyway?!?

I think in general terms gamers get annoyed when something gets put in completely out of context in terms of the gameplay genre, it's a bit like in KOTOR where you have gun turret sections, my sister loved RPG games but she couldn't do that bit, in the end I had to do it for her so she could continue the game.

Wait until Resident Evil6 comes out on PC its full of horrible QTE's :( Capcom even patched them to auto complete by AI on consoles in mid Jan but you still cannot tell when you are controlling the game or the AI is there is no onscreen indicator to tell you this which is very annoying :(

IMO Capcom have gone from being one of the better publishers to one of the worse in a few years they have gone downhill & added a lot of QTE's in their games on the way

I think QTE's should be banned as they add nothing to gameplay its just a cheap developer tactic to avoid creating animation & QA on gameplay interaction instead

haha. Resident Evil 6 is awful, but you are right the QTE are so badly designed.

I haven't written Capcom off. Dragon's Dogma was bloody good, and I'm excited about Monster Hunter 3:Ultimate in March. Plus their support for the FGC is still strong despite SXT. One thing for sure is they have made some bad decisions e.g. on the disc dlc which came back to bite them:)

Whoever designed the instant death QTE's in RE6 is a massive idiot that would annoy the patience of a saint ;)
