Try as I might, I can't get Quicktime movies to play or download in either Firefox or Chromium in Kubuntu. Followed all the various bits of advice but getting nowhere - anyone got a checklist of stuff that needs to be installed?

Will try that, but the first thing I did post install was to install the restricted extras and other related media files. As far as downloading is concerned, choosing that option from (for example the Apple trailers page) take me to the same 'Install Quicktime' page...

Hmm, followed all the instructions and still get teh same result. When attempting to view a trailer, I get a box with the Quicktime logo in it and clicking on that takes you to the download Quicktime page. Choosing the download option takes me straight to the Quicktime download page.

I have installed mplayer and vlc and *think* I have all the codecs. I have tried viewing in both Firefox and Chromium.

Slight improvement - I now get a window with the movie controls. But in Chromium it has a message 'Missing plugin' in the window and Firefox it shows this briefly then crashes..
