I just re-installed my operating system and have installed community codec pack, bit defender total security 2009 and now installed the latest quicktime player. For some reason when watching streaming quicktime videos online the seekbar (play and vol buttons) are missing.
I have this issue on Firefox 3.1 and IE7, Anyone have a solution?

Humm IE8 might give that a go and see if it works in that.

Edit - tried it still same issue......well at least IE8 seems faster than IE7. Any suggestions....anyone??

Yes i am using vista business x64; however mozilla firefox and quicktime are both 32bit apps, would not have thought that would be the cause. Maybe it is, still anyone have a solution?

I need to reinstall quicktime and itunes on my clean OS install, so haven't tried this yet, but after a quick search around some folks suggest running the browser in compatibility mode.

Just tried it with Firefox and it shows the progress bar but only when it's running in compatibility mode i.e. right-click > properties > compatibility > windows xp service pack 2

Can't seem to run IE8 in that mode though as it's 'part of this version of windows'.

this does work, but when running firefox in compatibility mode it changes vista's theme from areo to basic; which is annoying. Thanks anyways.
