Quicky - Power Touch with old Ipod Firewire Mains Charger

Ive got a mains charger which uses the firewire cable and an adapter thing that ive used on my ipod mini for ages and is really useful.. i can use this safely on my ipod touch right? Its the same connector.. but the manual only refs a USB power adapter..?!

i use the old firewire mains power charger with my ipod touch and it charges just fine
