I've got verything installed except the mobo which I'm about to install ( CPU and cooler and RAM already mounted on mobo).

I've installed the standoff spacers...when I place the mobo on them to screw the mobo down....do I put those little fibre(?) washers over the screw before screwing them in?

no.

the holes in the mobo have metal crimps around the edges so not needed.

Just make sure all the ports are clear at the back when they push into the I/O shield plate, sometimes some of the little metal tabs can get the wrong side of the ports and obstruct them.

Thanks for that stulid... I couldn't really understand the need for them but thought I'd ask to make sure!
I'll get it screwed in and then I may have a few questions once I get it up and running!

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by fibre washers, but I've never used washers. If they are particularly small headed screws and the washers are no bigger than the 6-8mm surround of the whole, then I can't seem them doing any harm, but they need to be metal/conductive as this grounds the case.

Edit; Far too late

Yep, I noticed it's a bit tricky but I think I've found the way to get them in correctly!

QUESTION:
My mobo has a CD-in socket but I assume this is redundant as I'm using SATA...is this correct?

Probably for the onboard audio. AFAIK these things are a relic of past times. A direct connection from CD drive to sound card would be less noisy than IDE-mobo-soundcard.

Basically, don't use it ;)
