Need to replace a fan in my Lian Li v800 HTPC. The current one is a little noisy as it is cranked up quite high due to the OC [pc doubles as a Gaming machine]

Whats a good fan to go for that is quiet yet will cool a e2140 @3GHZ? The e2140 is cooled by a passive HS but i added a 120mm fan to it to add extra scope.

Have bought a few of the Xilence 120mm fans lately and been very impressed. Really good balance of CFM/db. I recall looking at the specs and they seemed to shift more CFM for <20db than the Yate Loons.

Anyway got 4 or 5 in a CM-690 and they're completely inaudible. And I'm running a 8800GT with a HR-03-GT passive, showing great temps - so good airflow.

Noctua fans - 10db quieter than Yate loons and push the same air. I've also tested it against the Sharkoon 1000; the Noctua seems to push slightly less air than that but it is almost completely silent. However, Yate loons are £4; those other two are £8-14.... Yate loon wins.

I find that I can hear mine at 12V. At 7V all I can hear is the rushing air through the guard. At 5V I can't hear a thing, but they push slightly too little air at this speed to be much use as a case fan.

I suppose it depends on the noise level of the rest of the system though.
