Quiet air cooling?

Hi guys,

Am selling my current system to a friend soon (spec in sig), and will be upgrading to a 4870 gpu and one the the new stepping quad cores.

My current setup with an antec 900 case and freezer pro7 cooler is quite noisy. I'd like to keep a good overclock, (whatevers equivalent to OC'ing my q6600 to 3.2), but try and keep the system running a bit more quietly.

Could anyone reccomend a good CPU cooler, which is fairly quiet, and a case with good airflow which also doesn't make too much noise?

I know i'm asking a lot but I'm sure something must be around which is a bit quieter.

Thanks for any help

Not sure about the case, but the OCZ Vendetta 2 is a great cooler for the price, and quieter than the AC7 as it uses a 120mm fan, best still, costs less than the TRUE, which it almost matches for performance.

OcUK don't sell the vendetta 2, but I can highly recommend it nontheless ;) Mine keeps my E8600 nice and cool even under load overclocked to 4.5Ghz lol Be aware though that, as 120mm coolers, they're huge. My current mid-tower case can't acommodate it so I have to run it with the side off until I buy a bigger case. Well worth it though ;)

EDIT: Nobody can or will give you a link because as I said, OcUK don't sell it. Linking to competitors is bad, mkay? :D

Both look pretty good, looking at the stats the Noctua is about half the noise level of the Pro7? Will make my mind up between the two when the time comes round. Tis just case time now....

Had same case, heatsink and CPU as you. Best way is to go water or invest in some high quality case fans.

So for my new case, if I just go for something I like the look of, and doesn't have a ridiculous amount of case fans, which I then change for some silent ones I should be fine?

It will definitely make a difference. There are plenty of reviews on the net with regards to fan-offs :p

In fact it beats the TRUE in low airflow (quiet) machines. Get the OCZ Vendetta 2/Xigmatek. :)
