Hi,

I posted a thread 6 months ago about a new build, now I'm actually ready to build parts have all changed, so need to start again. Back then I wanted a Mini-ITX build, but I've decided to go for full ATX now because I value noise reduction over smaller size. My budget is around £800-850 and I already have the SSD (Samsung 840 Pro).

The main requirement is for the computer to be as quiet as possible while idle and under load without watercooling. It will be used for programming (Visual Studio), Multiple virtual machines, Gaming, Photoshop and light 3ds Max / UDK work:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Fractal Design Define R4 PC Case - Black/Pearl £79.99
1 x Corsair RM Series RM 650 '80+ Gold' 650W Power Supply (CP-9020054-UK) £89.99
1 x Intel Core i5-4670K 3.40GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail £179.99
1 x Noctua NH-D14 Dual Radiator CPU Cooler £65.99
1 x Asus GeForce GTX 760 DirectCUII OC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £215.99
1 x Corsair XMS3 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMX16GX3M2A1600C11) £119.99
1 x Gigabyte Z87-HD3 Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard £99.95
Total : £851.88 (includes shipping : FREE).

I picked the Corsair RM PSU because it's supposedly 0 RPM up to 40% load and has been made with coil whine prevention in mind. The CPU and GPU coolers are supposed to be very quiet too (I know my current Noctua NH-U12P certainly is). The GPU needs to be nVidia because I'm maintaining a legacy CUDA application.

Does anyone have any suggestions for different parts?

Thanks.

Thanks, looks good. When I looked at the GTX 670 previously it was £250+, didn't notice it had dropped in price so much, will definitely swap to that (and the cheaper RAM).

I'll wait a few days to see if any Corsair RM reviews come out, purely because I'm interested if they've managed to reduce/eliminate 'coil whine'. If not I'll just go for the one you've listed above.

Thanks again.

guys do we know if the z87-d3hp can adjust the fans on the nh-d14 as it is a 3pin fan and supposedly noctua say that the fan wont work if this is not possible?
