Quiet card advice

I have ordered the all bits for a new system. Well everything apart from a gfx card.

My main concern on this build is to get it as quiet as I can. I rarely game and if I do it's old games. Games that aren't really pushing my current 6800GT on a dell 2405.

Its been 3 years since I last upgraded and am a bit out of touch with gfx cards. I just want a decent mid range performer for around £100-£125ish.

If possible I will fit a passive cooler as well. Its going in an antec 1200 gaming case so should be ok with a passive cooler.

I'm thinking of a 8800GT like this one....

BFG GeForce 8800 GT OC2 512MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail

Any better options for the money?

I had a 8600 GT and it was very quiet, but it's probably a little under-powered these days.

I'd say if you have 100-125 to spend, the ATI H4850 is a great choice. Pretty sure thats quiet, Im sure others will comment

Nothing is more silent than IceQ cooling like the one on 3870XT IceQ3.

Very good card, however if you're looking to spend more than 120 and need more power than grab 4850 with aftermarket cooler like the accelero s1 which you can run passively for total silence. Or slap silent 800rpm noctua onto it.

4850 + accelero would come at around 135-140, a lot better than any of the 8800gt and you will have passive cooling which is dead silent.
