I've had a Core i5 set up for a while now but I'm still using the stock fan/cooler i got with the processor and it really is noisy so I'm looking to get a quieter replacement that would fit within a BitFenix Shinobi case.

Just wondering if anyone knows the best one to go for that affordable without breaking the bank? As quiet as possible would be ideal.

Thanks for any help.

I use a Gelid Tranquillo on my i5 2500k @4.2GHz, it's extremely quiet and my temps are currently 27C at idle and 46C while gaming. Prime manages to push it to just over 50C but that's as high as it goes.

I have the Antec KÜHLER H2O 920 and temps pretty much the same as rids57 It is pretty much silent but I appreciate it might cost more than you want to spend. I have no doubt others will post cheaper alternatives.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I decided to pick up the Gelid Tranquillo and I've just finished installing it. The instructions weren't the best I've ever had but I managed. I always find these parts to be the most fiddly and frustrating to install.

I could clearly hear the stock cooler/fan that I had before while doing even the most basic web browsing and such but i can't hear anything from the Tranquillo at the moment. It's as if the PC isn't even switched on. Very impressed. :)

The quietness made me so paranoid I had to permanently monitor the core temperatures just to make sure the fan was turning. :D
