Quiet CPU Heatsink

Hi All,

I'm looking for a CPU fan that is going to run at a much quieter level than the current stock cooler that I am using.

The heatsink is for a QX6850 at stock (I don't overclock).

Will any other heatsinks actually run much quieter than the stock cooler? I am not too bothered about temperatures but obviously the cooler the better...

Thanks for the advice.

You could probably run the thermalright 120 extreme without a fan. Or maybe a very low rpm fan. this could be done but either buying a fan that runs at low rpm or change the setting using speedfan to lower the rpm speed.

My tuniq is pretty quiet too, plus running the cpu at stock speed would allow the fan to be turned down too.

The most noticeable difference is likely to be the load temperatures. Any heatsink is likely to knock 5C off, and a good one probably closer to 10-20C depending on everything else.

Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme if you've got the money to play with or a Tuniq if you're slightly more money causious (little difference between 'em, but the Tuniq comes with a fan controller so you can set the exact speed and not have to mess around with Speedfan).

Both can be used with inaudible fan speeds for better temps than you're currently getting :)

seen as you have already built your system it will be annoying but not difficult, the cooler needs a backplate on the reverse side of the motherboard but other than that its a piece of cake
