What is the quietest GTX 580 in your opinions ?

Would prefer people who actually own the card, rather than review 'claims'.

Thanks.

I've got an Palit stock card atm, and will be getting an MSI Frozr card tomorrow hopefully, so will report back.

Excellent, the Frozr was one i am considering so i would be grateful for a comparison between stock cooler and the Frozr

If we are speaking about standalone cards (meaning cards that do not require existing water loop - like with preinstalled waterblock) then definitely the Sparkle card http://techiser.com/sparkle-calibre-x580-arctic-cooler-129534.html. I don't own it but I have reference 580 + Accelero Xtreme Plus - and yes it is very quiet.
(That kind of quiet that it is MUCH quieter at full load then the stock cooler was at idle and also with considerably better temps)
I would also expect Gainward card to be second quietest (Sparkles are difficult to get I guess)

I originally had a a palit gtx 580 the twin fan one it was quiet with no load but with load not overclocked (does have a slight overclock std 883/4020)it was noisy as hell i rma'd after 1 day, then got a reference 580 cooled card the no load was the same quiet and load was much better you could here it spin up but it was tolerable(both tested with mafia2 full settings) even reference cooler overclocked 830/4200 was not much louder go reference its night and day

Could not agree more with berty. As i posted before avoid the twin fan/heatsink versions. They just can`t compete with the vapour chamber versions in noise or temps.

Thanks for the replies :)

I've currently got a Gainward GTX570 GLH and its terrible noisewise, so much so that its getting returned after 2 days.

Its a twin fan , very similar to the Palit 580 by the looks of it.

I'm leaning towards either the MSI 580 Frozr or the Gainward Phantom 580 at the moment.

I've heard nothing but good things about the Frozr.
Don't take my word for it because I am not 100% sure, just throwing it out there. The Frozr is a true dual slot design, whereas the Phantom is a bit thicker than a dual slot.

Just in case you needed that space.

hmm interesting thread! I had the Palit in my basket just due to price but the MSI is on a this week only deal.

"19ºC cooler and 8.4dB quieter compared to reference design"

If that's true then it's well worth the £14 over the palit.

How do the 580's compare to a 4870x2 noise wise? anyone know?

I suppose all high end graphics cards are noisy at full load. I want a Geforce 580, currenrley using a Radeon 5970 and it is as nosiy as a 4870X2 at full load. Although i have had the 5970 well over a year now, i think it's time to get rid of it?

OK, just got my MSI Frozr 580. I can report that it is certainly quieter than the stock Palit 580 in Crysis, runs 10-20c cooler and it also appears to be pre-overclocked (to 823/1069) which is great.

Overall, very impressed with it :)

Reference card + Accelero Xtreme cooler, that's what I'm using and doesn't get any more silent than this, at least when it comes to air cooling.

Running the core at 900/1800, only gets to around 60c under load.

I considder Gainward GTX580 Phantom 3GB as quiet and cool as well. Around 30 celsius on idle and stock but not for long.
