Quiet(ish) modelling amp required.

I'm looking to get a small modelling amp for late night practice, 3 kids in bed and an AC30 don't mix all that well.

Anyone tried the G-DEC or Vibro Champ?

Looking for about 15watts solid state or 5watts tube.

Ta.:)

Anyone with either of these amps got any clips to show off?
 
Not really, I'm already using Amplitube and Guitar Rig 2 for that sort of thing, I want to be able to take it to my mate's house as well if need be.

I really just want an amp. :)
 
I'm biased toward the Roland Cubes but the Line 6 amps would make sense too. I like the Roland because I think it feels a bit more rugged to carry around.
 
No dont buy the Fender super champ XD, if you want a quiet amp. I have one and while its superb it is far from quiet.. in fact its bloody loud and i never have it above 2 and it does not have a headphone socket. I also have a roland cube 30x, it has a handy power squeeze button that puts the output way down to a few whats without losing gain or sustain.. it alos has headphone output, but its no where near as good sounding as the super champ xd. I say go try some amps out.
 
The 15 watt G Dec is probably in the lead at the minute, I'm playing mainly blues and floydy stuff so it seems to fit the bill, I'm going to try a few in the next few days, just wondered what other people had experience with.

I don't think I'll go for a Line 6 or Cube in all honesty.
 
Roland Cube ***

They have a big range of sound from quiet but can still handle loud pratices maybe small gigs.

There tone and sound is pretty awesome tbh. The dont have a big variety but the quality is good.

Either that or Line 6 pod and plug in to your computer.

Another vote for the Cubes, I am sat here looking at mine now - has four different OD/distortion settings:
Overdrive
Distortion
Metal
Metal stack

Two channels (Lead and Clean) with one 3-band EQ.

The Power Squeezer button, when pressed in, cuts the output from 15w to 2w I believe - means you can still get a good sound without having to really pump the amp.

It's almost loud enough to use at practise over drums and bass..

Also has a headphone/recording out socket so you can practise in silence if you want.
 
I'm now thinking of getting a Super Champ for home use. I was gonna buy a cab and just use my half stack in the house, but I never, ever, play my head past 4 or 5 in practice, so it's probably far, far too loud to use in the house. Plus it has to be really cranked to sound good cause it's a tube amp.

Hmm. Decisions, decisions. The lack of an amp at home is seriously stunting ability to play and create stuff.

It's solid state though isn't it so it shouldn't lose as much tone at lower volumes than a valve, Have you tried the Vibro Champ? That seems like a 5watt tube version of the Super Champ.

I don't really think the Cube is for me, it all sounds a bit harsh shreddy metal or 80s rock ballad clean for my taste.

The Spider is surely out classed by the G DEC as far as functionality goes?

As much as I love the Vox AC30 I'm considering selling it simply because I don't/can't use anything that loud...I got carried away in the shop :D

No. The super champ is all tube with digital effects. Essentially all tube with solid state push pull.
