I need a quiet PSU that will run the rig in my sig.

I have just RMA`d my second OCZ 850w GameXstream because the fan seems to be stuck on high meaning it is the loudest part of my system.

Can anyone recommend an alternative, I have about £80-£90 to spend and need it to have long cables (Modular not necc) and it really does need to be quiet.

Thanks guys (and girls?)

Seasonic X have good things said about them, new corsair are not as quiet as the old ones

Seasonic are a bit more expensive than I was looking to spend, and the Zalmans all appear out of stock.

Having read a few reviews about the Antec Truepower 650w its looking like a winner, can anyone confirm that the cable lengths will be sufficient for stealth cable management in my R2?

Corsair, had one go pop, taking cpu, mobo, out but that never put me off them. Useing a HX850 in my latest build, quality all the way(read some reviews), highly recommend it.

One thing that l have learnt by using this forum is never buy a cheap PSU no matter what the build, its not worth it.

I wouldnt go near a cheap PSU hence my first choice being the OCZ 850w.

*Although my previous PSU for last 3 years has been a Hiper Type R 580w

OCZ has just been very sticky onto cheap mediocre platforms and generic capacitors so have to congratulate your choise of brand.

And those components draw about 250W during games and maybe even above 300W if you try really hard with FurMark and Linpack for absolute maximum entirely unrealistic load.

If you want to route the 8-pin CPU power cable behind the motherboard you'll almost certainly need an extension - OcUK sell these for a couple of quid. The 24-pin cable will reach though, although the seam along the edge of the motherboard tray makes routing it a bit of a nightmare - I secured mine to the back of the HDD cages, which hides it well. :)

He wont need any extension cable.

I routed mine behind the motherboard, and it reached the 8pin on my board no problems.

And my case is huge compared to a fractal.

As suggested the Corsairs PSUs are very good (HX/TX models). Don't worry about cable lengths, even if they are too short you can just buy extenders at very little cost.
