I am after the quietest PSU available that uses a fan. Can't afford to go passive. Budget is £70. Let me know what you think is the quietest. My case is dead silent at the mo so the PSU needs to be the same!! Cheers

The Corsair 650w or the Pc Power & cooling, running the later in my system at the moment and have no complaints :)

What is your system spec.

that 80mm fan is it's downfall.

From experience, testing or an assumption? My 80mm delta driven pc power and cooling is significantly quieter than the 120mm psu it replaced. Smaller fan, but benefits from a direct, almost unobstructed airflow rather than an internal 90 degree turn.

At 500W I think you can go passive, whats the reason for not doing so? I think theres a quite cheap one silentpcreview wet themselves over, possibly by nexus.

Some are, some rather less so. Most depend on there beong some airflow in your case though, if you're going entirely fanless it'll be more difficult.

Psu is the loudest thing in my case, but that's taken quite some effort. Normally processor fan/graphics card/hard drives/case fans all drown it out. Whats the rest of the system like?
