hey Guys

I'm trying to build a silent PC gaming rig and was wonderign if anyone has any recommendations on a good silent PSU.

Graphics card wise I'm hoping to get one of the new GeForce Ti 2GB cards when they are realased and maybe an i7 processor later on this year. I currently have a Core 2 Duo overclocked to 4Ghz. So the PSU needs to be able to handle the load of overclocking.

What do you recommend?

not sure about the PSU, but i wouldnt bother with an i7 processor. theres no difference between the i5 2500k and i7 2600k in terms of gaming
the best i can do for PSU info is say that you'l want a 650W one so you have room to go SLI later. i really dont know what they are all like for noise

Agreed with above - i5 2500k is probably the best bang for buck gaming CPU at the moment.
I have a Be Quiet Dark Power Pro 650W and it's inaudible above my case/cpu fans which are very quiet themselves (silver arrow running at 40% at idle, 230mm case fans running at 800rpm). Build quality and efficiency are really good too (although I've not personally tested the efficiency :)). It's quite long for a 650W (I think they use the same case for all their PSUs, so up to 1000W iirc) so just check that won't cause you any issues if you decide on one.

Have a look at the corsair AX range!
Cant get any silent than that for a PSU - because the fan will not spin in low loads.
I had to check if my one(AX850) is faulty or not because it would only spin for a second at startup and shutdown.
Even at long sessions of gaming, using an over clocked i5 2500K and a unlocked & overclocked HD6950, it would not spin.
