Right, I have a wavemaster at the mo, moved it from under the desk to top of the desk and its too loud for my liking, only bought the damn case for the blue led's on the front. I switched the stock cpu cooler to the cooler 64 but the noise level is still getting on my nerves.

So should I find a way of making this hunk of junk quieter (and if so how?)or just buy a new case? I need a case which is nice and quiet, and has a side window

Cheers!

stock cooler on the 7800gtx, using the stock rear fan, artic freezer 64 pro, front 2 fans are turned off and stock antec 550w psu

Well the GTX will be making a right old noise, so you may consider switching that to a Zalman version.

Also the rear fans are not the quietest, again I recommend changing them to either a Zalman set or my personal favourites the SilenX fans.

i removed the front two fans on my wavemaster as i didnt require them... but the rear one i just upped the temperature for it on my bios so now it only turns at 1200rpm rather than 2400 which is a lot quiter

Ichabod,

Definatly keep your 2 front intake fans. RPM them down a lot though. If your CPU cooler is removing air outside of the case then remove the exhaust fan and add a wire grill and a dust filter there.

A wavemaster and most aluminium cases are hard to quieten down. The thin aluminium rattles and lets sound through easily. But they are light and sexy.

A p180 or p150 are great choices for silencing a computer.

Good luck

The wavemaster uses 80mm fans.

And Noni, they are not hard to quieten down! Resonation (your rattling) only happens on rare ocasions and is very very easy to stop. And they let sound through easily, yes they do, but if the internals are made to be quiet it makes no difference at all.

I was quite impressed with the 80mm fans when my brother used them in his case - quiet with decent airflow. I haven't had the chance to compare them to SlientX or Noiseblocker fans though, only the standard noisy 80mm fans you get in cheap cases
