Hello Overclockers!

Ive got a Antec p183, which I love, it is a great case! But is a tad noisy!

Ive got the stock fans in it with a GTX460, Akasa venom CPU cooler with 1 venom fan and an old 1000w PSU

My question is this, What can I replace to lose some noise on this bad boy? I'm guessing the stock fans will be the main culprit, The GPU is here to stay but the PSU may be replaced at some point although id like to not spend money on that if I can help it.

Any advice would be great!

First thing I did was remove the top fan and block up the hole with some acrylic, this made a big difference to my perceived noise as I sit just to the right and above the top fan slot. Also the top fan slot is flawed and noisy on the P183 due to the close proximity of the mesh and that stupid cut out.

I installed a cheap fan controller up front and ran two Xilence redwings running at around 500 rpm off that.

Later I removed the fan grilles from the two front slots and the back slot which further helped reduce turbulence noise.

Those are the case things but I also run an aftermarket GPU cooler, run my rear fan off the GPU PWM so it doesn't go too fast. I also run a CPU fan that goes from 600 to 1000 max. I also swapped my PSU fan for a slower quieter model.

The case itself is quiet and dampens noise a bit but it wont work very well with noisy components inside.
