of course if you're overclocking there's going to be a compromise but...

I have an arctic freezer 7 at the moment - and on full speed i think it's rather noisy. I'm using it with a Q6600.
is there something out there that will deliver similar performance yet at the same time be far quieter?
i'm talking fan based solutions here rather than water cooling etc.

Hi dsbdsb,

welcome to the forums, make sure you read the FAQ and bear in mind this is a nut house :)

Normally I wouldn't reply to this post as the question has been asked before 1000 times and has been answered before 1000 times!!!! :D

I'd advise you spend at least 5-10mins skimming through the various posts in the forums for your answers before you post a question, you would be suprised how much information is scattered throughout.

Personally I think the Arctic Cooler Freezer 7 Pro is the worst heatsink known to man and its really not an ideal companion to the Q6600 Powerhouse. As you have already noticed it gets pretty noisy at full whack, and to have any chance of keeping the quad core cool its gonna have to be run at full whack unless you have a wind-turbine for a case.

Ideally you will want to invest in a premium heatsink and choose a nice 120mm fan to go with it, lots of choices but I reckon your looking at about £30-£40 budget to get set-up.
