quietest cpu fan?

hi,

looking for a cpu fan for a new system, no budget really as they're a max of 55 anyway. basically, i want it as silent as possible, but with a fan, dont want it passively cooled. anyone got any experience of this?

the socket type may help, however the Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme CPU Cooler (Socket AM2/LGA775) will work for both the current amd and intel sockets. a 120mm fan is also needed, this thread may give you an idea of what fan to choose. http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17814746

Do you mean a heatsink and a fan?

Fan: Sharkoon Silent Eagle 2000 or Yate Loon D12SL-12.
Heatsink: Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme, Ultra 120A, Scythe Ninja, Scythe Infinity

thanks for the quick replys guys. new build so obviously lga775 so the thermalright is the best it it? and how about the best fan to go with it?
