Im looking at swapping a mix of fans in my case, some old Akasa Ambers (which are quite noisy) and I also have a few Sythe S-Flex 1200s which are a lot quieter - Ive seen lot of people recommend the Noctura - do you think id hear a difference between the Sythes and Nocturas ?

Any other very quiet fans to consider ?

Cheers

TB

I recently replaced the stock fans in my akasa eclipse with yate loon D12SL-12 fans, Quite cheap and good airflow and certainly a lot quieter.

Best idea might be to undervolt those fans. Even the Ambers can be made quiet.

Or you could buy a couple of Scythe KAZE-JYUNI SLIP STREAM 800RPM fans.

I have a Noctua S12 1200rpm arriving tomorrow, will give you my opinion then.

It's all subjective in terms of silence, but I like to think I know a silent fan when I hear one. :)

The Noctuas are pretty good. I have four of them and they're loud when all running at standard volts, but when I knock them down to 60% (in BIOS) my PSU fan is louder. And my PSU is a TX750 - pretty quiet.

I have 6 120mm Yate Loon D12SL fans and a 92mm Xilence running off a fan controller and I can hear the hard drives spinning up they are that quiet.

Even when I run them at 75% when gaming, it's just air I can hear move about.

Also look at the noiseblockers. I also agree about using a fan controller to slow the ambers down.

Noctua are the best but you pay for the premium. Under 9db.

The sharkoon ones are crap compared to noctua the xilence isn't to bad, if you want high flow rate

noctua - 12v performance - 800RPM, 8dBA, 35CFM
Sharkoon Silent Eagle 1000 - 1000RPM, 19dBA, 36.8 CFM

Xilence XPF120R Red Wing - 1400RPM, 21.2 dBA, 68CFM
Noctua NF-P12 120mm - 1300RPM, 19.8 dBA, 54.3CFM

If you have enough fan space get a couple of the noctua 800rpm ones.

well its all about budget as a couple of noctua fans are going set you back a bit. i dont for one second believe the xilence fans have nearly 70cfm. all i know is that my sharkoons work great and push more then enough that anyone would realistically need.

Even if they don't they will still shift more air than the sharkoon ones for the same noise. As I said if you can afford it noctua 800rpm ones are the dadys.
If not the xilence ones are the 2nd best, especially if you lower the voltage to reduce rpm.
