well i still cant sleep at night......my pc is mega loud when its the only thing on, and thats even with the yate loons installed!

So i want to go w/c however i want a really quiet install, so whats best ? zalman passive ? should be virtually silent ? but is it any good for a 3ghz is soon to be q6600, a 8800 gtx, a hot northbridge, etc ?

And how about my psu, ill spend 300 quid getting the pc silent then have a 120mm fan in the psu to deal with ?

Most W/C systems will be silent, 7v the fans on the radiator(s) and sit the pump on a sponge or something to stop any vibration.

In my experience, Enermax PSU's are top quality and quiet.

If you where to watercool a Q6600, 8800GTX and the NB then you would be looking at custom watercooling. Two loops would be ideal.

CPU and NB on one GTX on the other.

Hi,

I have 2 x Zalman Reserators 1 for GPU & RAM and one for CPU (yet to get NB) I'm not big on overclocking.

Totally silent, you might need to tinker with your system fans as they will be audible.

the fan kits are large fans that sit on top of the cooling tower. They can run silent or a wee bit noisy to keep temps down during hot summer months. Not the best W/c solution for clockers but it keeps my CPU + GPU very cool (in my opinion).

When I first got my Graphics card the reference fan was abysmal. I used ATI tools to tweak the fan so it actually kept the card cool, though was seriously noisy. I was hitting 85oC underload and about 65oC Idle. Some say they run hot but I thought that was too hot. Now with GPU block and RAM block the card is idle at 37oC and 54oC under full load. I usually play BF2142 at 1600x1200 with medium to high mix of settings. Played for about 7-8 hours temps are still around 54oC. The card is also clocked in ATI overdrive 695/1098Mhz.

CPU is 35oC idle and 45 underload....not currently overclocked.

Not sure how it will perform on a Quad CPU. It might just end up being an exspensive kettle. I guess for what it costs you might be better looking at an alternative solution. As all the other bits an bobs add up.

If it is silence your after then this is your one, first time I got it and powered it up I though my system was broken as I was so used to hearing the GPU fan and CPU fan kick in.

I ended up with 2 zalmans as a result of being robbed and the burglars left the reserator tower. So got a new reserator and bought some tubing connectors etc to get it up and running again.

Thermaltake Kandalf Super Tower Case
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.67mhz 1066 FSB
Powercolor x1950xtx 520mb
1 x Zalman 1v2 Reserator Plus GPU & RAM
1 x Zalman 1v2 Reserator Plus CPU
Zalman Reserator Fan Kit x 2

Cheers
B

Rubbish! So a Single 80.1 will be enough? Talk about being vaugue!

As Azza said and A PA120.3 at a MINIMUM. Dual loops.

I just replaced the fans in my Koolance system with a couple of Scythe S Flex SFF21F and they are very quiet for the volume of air they push. Might be worth looking at if you don't want a passive system.

Stay away from the OCZ stealthstream PSU as it's now by far the nosiest part of my system!

i have ocz gamestream im not actually sure how loud it is but i have a feeling its the loudest fan in the system....its also blue led which is nice but annoying at nite when im trying to sleep and download.

The reserators sound like a good idea :D

My mate has a 2 loop watercooling system, all custom gear dangerden blocks and he says its very loud, that the pumps are the loudest parts :(

You'll need some big radiators - as weescott suggests, 2x120.3 for a modern systen would be ideal.

I tried running passive a while ago on a Barton CPU @ not much overclock and a Thermochill HE120.2 and that would JUST about keep below the temperature at which the pump would shut down.

Alternatively, the Zalman Reserator kits are quite good, but again, you'll probably need two of them for the Q6600. Alternatively, you could look at the Alphacool Cora seris of passive profiles which - according to MadShrimps - can keep a 4GHz Preshot cool...

What? Why can't you 7v 3 x 120mm fans? Where did I say 1 x 80mm rad was ok?
