I have rebuilt my HTPC, but am considering an alternative cooler to the Silverstone NT01-E. As it will probably get used for simpler games more I am thinking it could be improved upon.

The NT01-E is currently fitted with two Fractal 60mm fans, but the wiring loop is on a molex at the moment to try and get some motherboard Q-fan control on it.
Stock 80mm case fans are back and will probably be replaced too. I have Sharkoon SE 80mm somewhere that used to reside in this build.

When I 1st built this many years back it was passive n silent, since putting it back together it seems noisier these days.

A simpler cpu cooler may be beneficial, if super quiet and efficient. But has to be low profile due to the case but lower than 70mm.

Edit, back to running with two SE 80's running silent from the motherboards Q-Fan control, with the NT01-E completely passive, but it's giving me an average 59.

The HTPC spec currently.

Asus Maximus II Gene.
Intel E8500 at stock.
Silverstone NT01-E CPU cooler with Fractal 60mm fans.
Corsair Dominator GT PC-8500 2x2GB.
Powercolor ScS3 Passive HD5750 GPU.
Samsung 500gb F3 HDD and a WD 1.5TB Green HDD.
Windows 7 64bit.
Corsair HX450w modular PSU.
Silverstone GD02B case.

So far the Scythe Big Shuriken 2 Rev.B Low Profile CPU Cooler at 58mm tall looks like the one, if it stays clear of the memory. Also thinking of a simpler case too, so it may well be more compatible in future.

I also like the Noctua NH-L9i CPU Cooler Low Profile - 92mm. But it looks too tall.

Cheers for the replies.
