Looking for thq quietest PSU possible with a budget of around £80, with as many watts as possible... Ideally over 650. Any ideas or handy links please? :)

BeQuiet range.

Had one of their Darkpower Pros (650w) and it was pretty much silent. Top banana manufacturer and very good reputation.

I have a Seasonic X650, and it's always run passive in my system. There is not a single trace of dust on the case PSU dust filter.

Peak power on my rig is 200w at very most however.

Anything made by SeaSonic (often re-badged by Corsair, Antec, etc).

I've had three SeaSonic PSUs now, and they are all quiet and reliable. You can sometimes grab youself a bargain too... my current PSU is

which I managed to buy brand new for £50 a year or so ago. The price has gone up ever since!

This. Except both my old Corsairs HX520 & HX650, which have failed & been replaced twice by Corsair. 3rd time will not be a charm, I've gone back to Seasonic as my last one is now in my sister's PC & has outlasted both Corsairs.

The Antec Quoted above is quiet as well, I have one powering my little used gaming rig. :)

I've never heard my silverstone Strider plus 650W, certainly not over other hardware! fully modular too ;)

Thanks for the advice everyone. After looking at price and decibels for each PSU, I decided on the 620W BeQuiet model :)

Ooh, I was looking at one of those this morning (the 80+ Gold?). Let me know what it's like when you get it. I'm undecided between a new one of those, or buying something used and doing a fanswap.

That's the one! I've done a lot to keep the PC as quiet as possible, so I'll let you know :D

Cheers. I'll bookmark this. I like the idea of getting a gold standard for not a huge amount of money. My PSU fan is the noisiest part of my system at the moment so it's due a change.
