Hi all,

Wondering if anyone can help currently running a Q6600 at stock don't overclock at the moment, i got rid of the OEM fan and replaced it with a FREEZER PRO 7 however it appears noiser than the stock cooler the cpu came with, i found myself using SPEEDFAN to turn it down to 80-90 % however is there anyother coolers out there that are near enough silent that i could use as i don't Overclock. Looking at max spend of £35-40.

Thanks in advance

You might be better off just changing the supplied fan on your cooler tbh have a search to see what others are using with the cooler you have.

Probably overkill for your requirements but will be transferable should you upgrade to a new socket in the future.
Probably wouldn't even need to use the supplied fan if not overclocking but you could run the supplied fan at very very low rpm.
Tuniq tower keeps my 6420 overclocked to 3.2 ghz idle at 28c at only 540 rpm.

A Cooler with a 120mm fan will produce slightly less noise but it seems overkill to buy a new cooler just to try and reduce the noise. Your cooler comes with a PWM fan meaning you can control it's speed if your BIOS supports this feature but you have already used Speedfan to do this and it's still too loud. You could perhaps try getting a better quality fan to install on the cooler as this would be cheaper than a whole new cooler?

Cheers guys.

C64 - sounds like a good option along with just changing the fan, i'll prob go for the tuniq in the long run when i do take the plunge to a 1366 skt cpu it'll save me some pennies as i won't have to get one then.

Thanks Again
