Quietest stock 4870

Hi guys

I want an almost silent 4870 Card to upgrade from my 8800GTX.

I want one with a stock heatsink, and that does not take up my PCI slots like aftermarket coolers often do as my case is cram packed already.

Any suggestions?

I've heard some of the cards marked as "silent" are only that when they are idle but when on load they fire up and are loud :S

As far as i know all the stock cards have the same cooling so the same amount of noise. Have a look at this to see what you think for size. Its a little more expensive but the cooler does not look so big.

All the stock 4870s are the same; you'll need to buy one with a custom cooler if you want something quieter.

If they've all got the same stock HSF (as you've stated you require) then they're all going to have the same noise/heat levels...

Surely that's pretty obvious.

Yes, stock coolers are all the same reference design, but I assumed the OP meant a cooler that came with the card rather than one he would have to fit himself.
