Hi,

I'm looking to get insurance on my first car and am need of advice, i've searchd around all over the place (bell, admiral, endsliegh, confused) and have found Quinn Direct to be the cheapest by far. I'm 22 with 2 years named driver experience trying to get insured on a 1.4 Ibiza SXE.

However i've read a number of threads on the forum about poor customer service. Could those of you who that have/had cover with Quinn please give me your opinion of the company as an insurer.

Thanks

Im on my second year with them and had no probs at all.

Both through work and through various forums - I hear they absolutey suck when it comes to a claim.

They approached me at work and asked if I would like to deal with them. I made some enquiries and subsequently called them back and politely said thanks but no thanks.

Arnt Quinn direct the people who wouldnt pay for for some dudes MR2 because of a pipe of some such, and them claiming there professional mechanic had said it had to have been beacuse of N0S, when the MR2 in question had never had N0S and there was a perfectly good reason for the pipe.

They also spied on him on the forum and claimed that the evidence of him racing because of his talking on the forum meant they didnt have to pay out because of said "racing" when the claim was completely unrelated, the engine caught fire on the motorway IIRC.

Warning, i am not sure that this was definately Quinn Direct

Edit:- Turns out it wasnt, it was Highway, ignore.

my mate is with them and someone reversed into him and took out his side pannel. Quin took the car away, gave him a courtesy car (new panda lol) and had his old car back and respayed within 3weeks. The garage did an excelent job and the process was reasonably speedy

Currently have a policy with them, started in May. not a problem, my insurance was all sorted online, good price too :)

NO. This was Highway. And it was not an MR2, it was an RX7. LOL could you be any more wrong ;)

A few of my mates are with them, quinn that is. Mostly ok but CS sucks.

3 weeks is a hellofa long time... Someone rear ended the GFs civic a while back and a replacement of the bumper (and colour coded etc) took 2 days, surely a quarter panel shouldn't take much more than that??

I was insured with them a couple of years ago. Unfortunately I had to make a claim through them but it was handled very well, I have no complaints.

been insured with them for 2 years, though i've never made a claim so can't comment on that side of things.

I'm on my 2nd year with them, they fought very hard to get me my NCB back and they succeeded, also the then car was repaired to very high standards.

My only gripe is, they don't do windscreen cover. But i'm sure their DOC cover still runs to all drivers with policies from Quinn?

they gave me cover without me paying for anythnig and them having only my address to contatcme buy and did know until i rang them to change the cover.

they are ok

it wasnt just the bumper though, it was a 3 door 306 and they hit where the rear door would be. so the rear end had to be chopped, welded and sprayed

This may be just me who's having a good ride with them, but try Asda Car Insurance.

They're a sub Insurer of Norwich Union Direct afaik. All claims go through Asda though. I've got an 03' Clio 1.6, only just got one years no claims in Aug this year [I'm 19] and I'm paying £970 Fully Comp [12 months Ins] including courtesy car etc...

I was really, and pleasantly suprised, especially as NUD who were my first years insurer on my 96 ' Punto 1.1 quoted me a premium of well over £1300 for my Va Va, and were charging me in excess of £990 for the Punto, which again was a good quote in the first year of my driving, but still expected the best quote I'd get for my new purchase to be pretty high, say £1600 at best. Just shows, if you try and toy with them all, you can get a good deal.

Obviously there's too many factors to mention that contribute to a premium, but try them, you might be lucky, or might be pricey, but its worth the 10 minutes :)

Pete.
