Spice up your Saturday night.

I've done up a quick lingo quiz, sure why not.

Listen to each audio clip and take a wild guess at the language. If you don't know the exact language, try and guess the language family. These are languages from countries you all know.

Reply with your answers like this:

1. Japanese
2. Polish
3. English
4. ... etc etc

AND ALSO state the language which audibly appeals to you the most

LISTEN:

Language 1*
Language 2
Language 3
Language 4*
Language 5*
Language 6*

* Already figured out by other users. Have a guess yourself before reading the answers below

Whoever wins gets two GIF smiley faces, posted via email. Have fun!

I think you have a good ear for lingos. You're going in the right direction with number 3.

OK, so Romanian, Irish and Norwegian have been sussed.

There's still two languages remaining. These languages are from "countries" that we all know (hopefully). For all of the users above, now's your chance to increase your score and win those 2 GIF smiley faces via email.

I think I should clear up some confusion that English people have about 'Gaelic'.

There are two language families spoken in Britain and Ireland:

Germanic: (consisting of) German, English, Dutch, Danish, etc.
Celtic: Irish, Welsh, Scots Gàidhlig, Manx

The word 'Gaelic' can mean two things.
1. A language family consisting of: Irish, Scots Gàidhlig, and Manx, or..
2. Scots Gàidhlig - The native language of Scotland

An Irish speaker will find it hard to understand a Scottish Gaelic speaker. Just as a Spanish speaker would have difficulty with Catalan.

Have another bash:

Language 2
Language 3
