I've just had a quote to remove 6 leylandii 7ft tall tree's, grind out the stumps etc, prune a large tree to remove about a third of it's height and to just top off a couple more leylandii.

Does £175 sound reasonable? That is to take all the debris away also.

Hire a stump grinder, prices from £28 per day depending on area, & hire shop.

Would consider doing it myself but.........

  • I've never used a stump grinder before
  • I don't own a chainsaw
  • I don't have any high ladders for pruning my large tree
  • I don't have a trailer to carry all the debris down to the local tip

Tree removal company arrived today and carried out the work. Quite pleased with the result and they left everything neat and tidy.

The grinder got rid of all the stumps so i'll hopefully get some time to rake it all over thoroughly and start thinking about what to plant. Can also paint the fence now.

Anyone got any idea's for plants along that newly created strip next to the fence? I'm thinking of some plants like lavender's. Is it best to remove the top layer of soil which has had the leylandii tree's?
