Right have been reading the thread about the latest AMD 6 Core, and it look's like AMD are on a winner. But one thing that l noticed peep's quoting temp's for one set up, people another, but quoting your temp's with out knowing your Room Temp(Ambient Temp) does not give a proper picture. If you look at a review they alway's give the Room Temp(Ambient Temp) as well thus giving you a better picture ie: testing a CPU.

People say their room is quite cold, hot, etc, which mean's nothing at the end of the day, for the sake of a couple of quid to buy a cheap Thermomitor you can now give abetter picture overall quoting your
Room Temp's as well as your CPU, GPU, temp's, volt's + build. Especially when overclocking, l've been using one since late last year.

Last week 24/4/2010 l decided to give my PC a spring clean and also see if l could get my CPU Vcore down (see sig for my spec) with knowing my CPU Temp's at a particuler Room Temp -

My CPU Vcore for 4.0GHz is 1.28125v (CPU-Z > 1.248V) +using Dynamic Vcore(DVID) >CPU-ZV > 0.96V) help's to lower idle temp's only, not at 100% load.

Room temp at the time was 20'C > 34'c, 36'c, 33'c, 38'c Core's Vary +/- 1'c, managed to lower my CPU Vcore too 1.26250v > CPU-Z > 1.233v + using Dynamic Vcore(DVID) >CPU-ZV > 0.94V) Tested Stable.

Core Temp's now read 30'c, 33'c, 31'c, 34'c > Core's Vary +/- 1'c > adrop of approx 4'c

Today 30/4/2010 Room Temp is at 20'c, Core Temp's read 30'c, 32'c, 30'c, 34'c > Core's Vary +/- 1'c, as l write this thread.

As l say get a cheap Thermomitor so you now what your Room Temp is, help's when your overclocking and give's other peep's a better picture overall when you quoting your Temp's for your CPU, build and volts used!!!!

right on! i couldnt agree with you more. People wonder why my clocks are so low but most ddont consider my room temperature (hot due to the broken radiator). Whats the point of knowing system temps if you dont know the lowest that they can get i.e. ambient room temp.

its a good point, depends how precise you want things. generally rooms are between 19-22c which is only 3c difference. if i stuck the pc i n a garage at 15c then yeah:D. we'll be quoting atmospheric presure next! what about humidity??

i will be quoting ambient room temps on my next tests.

mymorph > generally rooms are between 19-22c which is only 3c difference.

It's not a question of how precise you want to be, but it help's peep's with their OC knowing what your room temp is when quoting temp's.

Instead of saying my room was quite cold or quite hot!!!!

What part of the world do you live in, l live in the North East of UK > Newcastle Upon Tyne, my house > double glazing + cavity wall insulation. The room temp's can still varey a lot.

Summer > upto 23'c as we get the sun from about 9.00am > 7.pm in the evening in my front room, where my PC is kept.

Winter > at least 14'c if we get a cold spell and don't use the central heating.

I'll bet are freind's up in bonnie Scotland, even get a bigger variation in room temp's, than l do!!!!!.

my office has a big window in it and is a tiny box room making the temp in there 25c+ on a normal day then 30c+ in the summer so saying an "normal" room is xc-xc cant be done....oldphart is right it doesnt have to be spot on but a chepo temp is the way to go :D
