Basically I have a DVD with a catalogue produced on a MAC in Qwark, is it possible to get the files transferred over to a PC format (think I have seen free tools to do this) and would I just search the interweb for PC versions of the fonts needed to try to convert the MAC format ones from the DVD. Also is it likely that Indesign will be able to open the Qwark project without issues or will I need a 3rd party commercial convertor?

You're much better off using the Windows version of QuarkXPress. Converting it to InDesign will be very messy if it's even possible.

Most fonts these days are Opentype or TrueType which should be fine on either system. Even if you only get given the Mac fonts pretty much all fonts are made for both systems so it will be easy enough to purchase the correct version.

If it's a Quark 4 file then it will open into Indesign. You then just need to sort out the fonts and image links.

Use hi-res PDFs from the original supplier as templates.

If you have the full Adobe Creative Suite then you can also work from the PDFs to suss out what fonts have been used and extract graphics (depending on their source).
