Just got myself a QX6700 quad core and seem to be stuck @ 3.0GHz 9x 340 mhz running it in a Asus P5W DH delux got my ram timming @ 4-4-4-12 (Corsair PC2-6400 Ram)

Will not boot into window past 3.1 so not sure what to try next as not sure what extra volts to give it if any. The chip come from a Dell XPS 710 where i had it running at 3.2 (yes i know overclocking a dell shocking :p ) so i know it can go further please help guys

Use the multiplier to overclock, nearly all MB are severely FSB limited when overclocking quad cores.

Jokester

so you saying 10 x 3.40 = 3.4 ;)

No drop your FSB a bit and up the multi so that you're still at 3GHz, if that's stable increase the FSB again and test for stability etc etc. If you hit a wall again increase the multi and drop your FSB so that your at the same speed and try again.

thanks for that jokester got to boot at 3.4 and running but did not like 3.6 just going to have a mess about now and find the sweet spot ;)
