Hi just wanted to see what sort of clocks people are getting on there QX6700 Quad cores and what they are using, mobo, CPU cooler, RAM etc

here is mine

QX6700 @ 3.25 (10x325)
Asus P5W DH Deluxe
Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2 Dominator PC2-6400C3
Tuniq Tower 120 CPU Cooler

Did get it to 3.5 but kept crashing so maybe need to mess about with volts etc

I cant be the only person stupid enough to buy one of these, can I ;)

come on guys what you got out of it.

Mine reached 3.6GHz quad SP2004 stable at 1.575V (drooping to 1.475 on full load)

EVGA 680i and Storm waterblock.

Do you think i can get anymore out of it as i'm only on air at the moment.

what temps do u get at 3.25 willis i interested to know cos thats the setup im interested in (when i get the cash)

well running SP2004 its about 50c so its not to bad ;)

Thats good, lots of people say they run hot but my prescott still seems to load higher at about 65oC max

So all looks well

watercooled, but it was very hot. 70C+

You upped the volts tho would that be why?

Also which would be better performance wise?

1)333FSB x10multi @1:1 with RAM making 667mhz
2)runing RAM independant (with divider) at 800mhz?

Been stable at 3500MHz (10 x 350, 1.43V) but I found the fan noise on my air-cooled setup that the bios kicks in to compensate for high heat under load (59C tops) too much of a pain after 11PM (pc is in me bedroom, next to headboard, grumpy partner, say no more..)

I find my current setup as per sig is quiet and cool. Is also way faster than 3500MHz on the WinRar benchmark (much higher memory bw) but when I do video/dvd/TPMG or 3D stuff I go back to the 3500MHz setting, man it flies :p

I'd like to see what a powerful cooler something like a Vapochill manages, but that's yet more noise so maybe I'm stuck with things as they are, but boy am I happy, the change from P4 has been 'memorable' :D

A standard Vapochill would most likely die from the loads kicked out by a Overclocked Quad core.

Theres a guy on another forum with a Quadcore on a vapochill at 4.4ghz.

Give an idea of whats possible i guess haha.

I dont hink anyones tried LN2 yet as these chips are stil quite expensve.

It won't be a bog standard LS/or Mach 2GT if that's stable clock speeds. You need to regas them and retune for over 200W of heat output.

If he's priming at that speed he'll likely overpressure the compressor and trip it out (I've done it in the past :o ).

i want a quod core QX6700 !!!!

The CAD lady has just had a new machine delivered with it and damn its super fast !!!!!

Fastest cpu i've seen myself

even water is struggling on quad core

thats a pretty bad sign of things to come really, until they make them run cooler i cant see it worth buying them.

But ain't that like saying "I don't want a Ferrari until they do 270MPH" ?

The QX6700's are brilliant as-is, now.

There will always be something better in the future, but waiting for the future is a bit well... when it arrives, there'll be something even better on the horizon, then you'll be waiting....again...

Sort of living life in a never ending loop ;)

I have mine running at 3.3ghz (275 x 12) @ 1.3375v. Idle's at 38-44C and can reach a maximum of ~65C under full load. That is with a Titan Amanda on it. Before hand when running the mini Coolermaster Water cooler it would idle at 70 and reach 98C and then eventually crash.

Temps taken with core temp and load figures established using Orthos.

OCZ PC6400 ram currently running at 1:1, 550mhz @ 3,3,3,9 - 1T. So far seems a bit quicker than 800mhz @ 4,4,4,12 - 2T.

Had the QX6700 stable at 3.42ghz with VCore at 1.5 but the mobo was fixed to a couple of towels at the time, so temps were ~40 stable, not tried it in the case yet at 3.42ghz. 3.6ghz gives about 10 mins in Windows and then crashes.
