I've just been reading around abit and I know this CPU gets hotter than the dual cores, but from what i've seen the load temps on this CPU are 70 - 85C !

Is this right? those temps were using water cooling aswell. I was thinking about getting one of these CPU's but if the temps are realy that high... I might be getting second thoughts.

Can anyone that has this CPU post what your idle / load temps are please? and also your clock speed and cooling used. I'd love to know if they actually do run that hot! :)

I've read a review aswell on a site, i posted about them on another forum and the people there said those temps arent right..

i dunno tho

I can believe it however, I can't make an educated opinion on the temperatures you gave without details. i.e exact cooling and volts.

Put it this way: I plan on getting my Phase unit modded to handle Quad core. :|

Quads run a lot hotter than DC. Most who have a quad would use phase to cool them, especially if overclocking.

I can give you a rough idea of the temps with an air cooler.

QX6700 TDP=130W assume 1.5v vcore at 3.6Ghz (TDP isn't max wattage either, it could be a little higher, but its all they give.)

OC = 130*(3600/2660)*(1.5/1.3)² = 235W

Something like a Tuniq at 25C chassis ambient. 0.16-0.21 C/W (2000 - 1000 RPM).

0.160 = (Tc - 25)/235 Therefore Tc = 62.60C
0.185 = (Tc - 25)/235 Therefore Tc = 68.50C
0.210 = (Tc - 25)/235 Therefore Tc = 74.35C

Tc is the Intel case temp, or the temp on the top of the CPU. The internal temps are way higher. Thats a lot of wattage to cool. Good WC should have lower TR C/W.

Or put the numbers in here http://newstuff.orcon.net.nz/wCalc.html

Hi,idle temps are 43c stress test temps are 55c on my qx6700 running in a thermaltake taichi with the stock watercooling

Thanks for the replys guys,

Does anyone know the recomended max temp for this CPU, I guess it would be safer and built for higher temps than the dual cores?

Also got me thinking, you'd never realy hit the max temp with this CPU other than stress testing. How often are all 4 core's going to be at 100% .

This CPU could probably run the latest games praticaly being idle?

Temps:
Idle 38
Load 49

But as soon as I up the juice, the temps jump

Wow you kiddin' me mate? Those temps are ace!

What rad do you have? and are you cooling a Gfx card aswell as the CPU?

The room is cool & @ 3.0 its a very mild overclock
Thermochill PA120.2, just CPU at the moment.
will do another loop for graphics, when i stick the whole setup in a TJ07 this w/end

ThemoChill 120.2 in the roof for gfx & Thermochill 120.3 for CPU

WOW that water cooled .....

Makes me wonder what the temps are when you overclock this cpu???
