Running the quad core on the standard intel supplied heatsink and fan.

Now the hot weather has come the fan speed goes up and down driving me insaine!!

Ive taken the side off the case (TT Armour) which has more than enough fans to keep the inards cool. In doing this the CPU fan settles to a constant speed.

Idle CPU is 28oC. When the fan goes up and down the system freezes too!

I do a lot in Photoshop and this fan noise is driving me loopy.

Any reccomendations for a new HS and fan??? Not watercooling ta.

Cheers all

BTW motherboard is an Asus IP35 Pro 4GB Ram 3 TB hard-drives

GPU is a 8800 GTX

How about the Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme CPU Cooler ???

Reviews are good on OCuk

Ye Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme CPU Cooler Would do the Trick or the Tuniq Tower 120 CPU Cooler is a Very good Cooler as well

Are you overclocked?

The Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro is a pretty good alternative to the stock cooler if you haven't pushed the CPU to its limits. I'm running one in my Q6600 machine at 3.45ghz, and even at full speed it's pretty quiet.

Went for the Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme CPU Cooler .

Arrived this am. Had to stip the board outa the case, but it gave me a chance for a tidy up !!!

Bit of a bitch to fit, but once in all is well!

The cooler wont fit with the armour side panel fan, so had to move the large side fan to the outside of the panel.

Will look ok once tidied up. Seems cool sofar. Will check the temps after the burn in process has complete.

Cheers for the advice peeps....
