Slight problem :(

My Q6600 runs fine in the maximus ii formula

The QX6850, in the same board, won't boot.

all mobo settings set at default/auto.

Any ideas:confused:

Cheers.

Clear the bios with the rear button. Unplug the power and clear it again, leave it half an hour or so and boot with the Q6600, 1 stick of ram and gfx.

I get similar errors with my MIIF and a Q6600 (but never with my old QX6850) and a good long bios clear seems to fix it. You may also need to boot with the original driver cd in the disc drive as it contains a bios rom which can be automatically flashed in the case of a bad bios.

So far , i've tried :

Q6600 in maximus ii formula *
Q6850 in above

Q6600 in maximus ii gene
Q6850 in above

* 1 time the bios screen was accessed

Now constant boot cycles ( det ram, cpuinit, vga bios, usb... ) ending with cmos error in all the above combinations.

But nothing on the screen, since that 1 time it entered bios.

Graphics card has green light indicating its working.

Could the PSU be causing this, i'm running out of options

Cheers.

And it doesn't POST in either board now, with either CPU?
