The torture test (blend) runs fine for about 30 mins, but as soon as I reach stage 2 of it, the pc just freezes. I then have to reset the power, and load into windows again.

What would this suggest to be the problem. I seem to have no trouble with running anything else, like games, and general pc usage etc for 12hrs +.

BTW I have also just replaced the stock cpu cooler for a Zalman CNPS9700-NT, which has reduced idle temps by nearly 10C, and load by about the same margin. I couldn't have damaged anything by doing this, that's in tern causing these freezes?? I don't get any BSODs or other windows errors...

have overclocked in the past just to try it out, but now back at stock.

so my memory is currently at 1000Mhz 5-5-5-18-2T, which is spec. so all should be fine there?
plus i have manually set the memory voltage to 2.1V which is as per spec as well.

memory and NB related - seem to have fixed the problem...

Problem appears to be with the memory and my northbridge in fact. I had manually upped the NB voltage from stock, 1.26V, to 1.36V, but this appears not be be sufficient.

Its now at 1.38V, and I have manually set some of the other memory timings options as advised on the OCZ forum for my particular memory.

Lets hope I don't get any more freezing!

BTW I am running an Asus Striker II Formula with the following settings if this can be of any use!:
- QX9650 @ stock @ AUTO V - 33C idle (will overclock in due course)
- 2 x 2GB OCZ PC2-8000 Reaper X @ 1000MHz @ 5-5-5-18-2T tRC-24 @ 2.1V
(Memory divider set to unlinked, FSB 1333, Mem 1000)
- NB - 1.38V
Benchmarks from SiSoft Sandra & 3DMark06:
- 51,100 - Dhrystone / MIPS
- 43,461 - Wheatstone / MFLOPS
- 388,524 - Multi-Media Int / iit/s
- 180,350 - Multi-Media Float fit/s
- 7.24 - Memory Bandwidth / GB/s
- 13,364 - 3DMarks(06) (BFG 8800 GTX OC2)
- 5,418 - SM 2.0 Score
- 5,652 - SM 3.0 Score
- 4,479 - CPU Score

Its worth noting that benchmark results are much higher in XP Pro-32 than Vista Ultimate-32! My 3DMark06 result at stock is 14,083 in XP.
