QX9650 Results and Tips Thread

L740A373

I found it doesnt like the 13 multi or rams speeds too far under 400mhz.

Since you have the same board as me:

I then use SetFSB in windows

Yes its under phase. I managed a little more than that, but I don't want to go above 1.7v just yet.

This chip went straight under the phase unit and first boot was at 4Ghz. I haven't bothered with air or water yet.

From that, i derive you are at the tweaking process stage;)

More results to follow i am sure;)

I eagerly look forward to both air and water results

Yeah I'll post more results later. ;) My 3D mark scores should improve a little :p

I think I caused a brown out in my street. The power went off briefly.

QX9650 @ 5Ghz
Phase unit with 1/2HP compressor
V modded 8800GTX
1kw PSU
200w Waterchiller.

:o

great results guys and i think simon is absolutely correct about the lower end chips, going by your clocks the q9450 with it's 8x multi will be handicapped big time on current boards and the 9550 with it's 8.5 a little better off but still throttled back quite a bit.

550fsb boards for quads in the next 6mths? mmmm doubtful.

so basically q9450 and 9550 is not worth buying and qx9650 just to expensive bahhh wait for new processors i say 2008 q4 maybe :p

I hope the q9450 and 9550 don't get FSB limited or it will be a low point in the overclocking scene, it will be all about £££'s.

Early days though, they might over clock like mad :o

This chip/board is/are a real pain to recover from a failed overclock. I tried to boot at 12x400 and it didn't like it. The only way I could get it to post again was by putting in a Cellery, booting into windows, switch off, put in the Quad, save the defaults quickly (or I have to put the cellery back in) and start clocking again! I had to do this with a Cellery as it didn't like the E2180 either

Very strange.

I do, it looks as though I'm at the chips limit on my current cooling. Condensor is at -28c, the hottest it's been yet. I'll just have to wait till next month when it goes under Ln2 :D

OOo ill have to nip over to bt and take a peek ;)

What are the voltages presently out of interest over 1.7v?

be happy with our ~4ghz kentsfields for a decent time i think unless you want to splash 700 notes for a QX

X38 can't even hit 500fsb with quads, i'm not up with what's after X48 but you'd think it unlikely how 975 scaled to x38 that a chipset in the next 6mths will do 550fsb 24/7.

just my 02c though :)

I have a QX9650 + maximus extreme w/water coolers in the post.

Provided it all arrives in one piece I'll try and see what kind of results I can get.
