QX9650

Just ordered another QX9650, have been told its a L740B. I have tried looking on the net but can't find any info on this stepping. I was wondering if anyone else has this stepping or if some guide exists that I have been unable to find

Its for a different tower, its not replacing the one I already have.

mr griffin, how long have you been running the QX9650 at 4.2Ghz and at what Vcore if you don't mind me asking. The batch number on mine is L746B and I have it running at 3.85Ghz using 1.352v. I'd love to push it beyond 4Ghz but then I'd be outside 'Intels' operating voltage and I'm worried about degradation.

Sorry to hijack your thread, but i was considering one of these myself.
Im tempted to buy a Q9550 at the moment, but for an extra £80 i've been offered a QX9650.

Do you think its worth investing the extra £80?

Its well worth the extra £80 as the new q9xx quads are pretty poor clockers.

I have been runnig it since the day I got it at 4.2 which is about 2 months, it requires 1.36 real volts (think its 1.37) in bios to be stable at that speed, and the batch number isL740A478T idle temps if to be trusted in core temp are 39 and load temps in small tft in prime can reach 59-60.

The other QX9650 I received a L740B383 is not as good or at least I have not tried it properly as I am too scared lol at 1.28v @ 3.6mhz even on water core 0 and 1 idle at 48 and load temps of 58, core 2 and 3 run just fine and 12 degrees cooler, for now I don't know if its a dodgy sensor or a bad 2 cores? who knows?? shame tho as I was at least hoping to hit 4.0mhz. Its about time a program came out that can read these 45nm chips correctly.
